Objectives

9-12 Curriculum

“Golden Lives” is the 9-12 AGREE Curriculum.  It is a growing collection of biographical articles about Arizonans whose lives reflect the Golden Rule.  Readers will discover Arizonans, past and present, of many ages and backgrounds.  Whether famous or little-known, these people’s lives demonstrate the impact of the simple guideline: Treat other people the way you would wish to be treated.

Comprehension and discussion questions accompany each reading.  We encourage collaborative work with the school’s Music/Art/Drama departments to produce the relevant material, enhanced by this collaboration.

Since “Golden Lives” is a living work, AGREE also offers the opportunity for participating schools to have students write their own biographical piece about an Arizonan they feel would be an appropriate addition to the collection.  Both as readers and writers, students will work within the AZ Academic State Standards:

  • Reading: Key Ideas and Details, Craft and Structure, Integration of Knowledge and Ideas, and Range of Reading and Level of Text Complexity
  • Writing: Text Types and Purposes, Production, Distribution, and Research
